Hollywell Primary School

When we first viewed Hollywell we felt welcomed and that has grown ever since. The staff are a great support, and we feel they really do care about every single child! Our children’s confidence has grown, they enjoy going to school, and it’s lovely to see how engrossed they get with some topics. It isn’t just about curriculum learning, the children are encouraged to be involved in their local community. Their voices are heard and families are supported, and it always amazes us how all the children know each other no matter the school year. There are some fantastic opportunities for children to experience new activities, interests and responsibilities. We can’t recommend Hollywell enough!

Our daughter started in Reception at Hollywell this year, and she absolutely loves it — she skips to school every day with a huge smile on her face. From the very beginning, we’ve felt such a strong family atmosphere throughout the school. The staff genuinely take the time to get to know you as parents and understand who your child is as an individual. It’s also been wonderful to see how the older children look after the younger ones, helping them feel safe and settled. Starting school can be a scary and daunting milestone, but Hollywell has exceeded our expectations and made the transition such a positive experience for us all.

We are so pleased that our son attends Hollywell school. The staff have justified high expectations, whilst also fostering caring relationships with the children, encouraging them to flourish. We feel that our child is in safe hands during the school day and can trust that his well-being is being nurtured just as much as his academia. The effort that goes into the school events is impressive, and the events are well spaced out across the year, so as a parent you feel you can be involved while school still remains the children’s ‘patch’. Since our daughter started in Reception, we have been so impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere at Hollywell. She genuinely enjoys going to school every morning; she has particularly loved getting stuck into Forest School, and phonics and reading have quickly become her favourite activities. She gets along wonderfully with her teachers, who have made her feel settled and supported from the very start. We couldn't have asked for a better start to her education and highly recommend this school to any parent.

Our boys transferred to Hollywell at the start of Year 3.  To move to a new school can be really unsettling for children and thoughts of doing so certainly occupied much of our thoughts as a family prior to them doing so.  However, and without any further doubt, they both came home after their first day really buzzing and excited about the move, which was so reassuring.  They were very much welcomed by their new classmates and the staff have been brilliant at making sure they settled quickly.  The whole school ethos is very family-focussed, with staff responding professionally, positively and with a friendly face; nothing seems to be too much trouble.  It was a difficult decision to make to move the boys, but we haven’t looked back for a single moment – and the boys certainly haven’t!

As parents of a child who is now well established in her school life at Hollywell, we couldn’t be happier with the support she receives from all the staff there. The school’s ethos and values are clearly reflected in the learning and extracurricular activities the children take part in and in the interactions they have with all staff members across the school, making the school a safe and happy place with a true community feel. Each staff member takes the time to get to know the children and takes genuine interest in their lives and hobbies, always celebrating their achievements in school and out, making them feel safe, supported and welcomed every day. Each child is nurtured in a way that meets their unique needs and talents. Children are encouraged and inspired to flourish, not only academically, but also as members of the local community. Our daughter is happy to go to school, and we cannot recommend Hollywell Primary School enough.
