Pupil Premium 2020-21

For 2020-2021, Hollywell received an initial allocation of £52,455

Our plan for pupil premium funding in the current academic year

  • Teaching assistant support in KS2
  • Phonic support for Year 1 and Year 2 delivered by a teacher
  • Teaching assistant support for targeted intervention in Year 4 and 5
  • Free flow provision in EYFS and KS1 supported by an extra teacher to improve language and communication, independence and social skills
  • Training programmes for staff in early language and positive play
  • Drawing and talking counselling sessions
  • Half-termly pupil progress reviews to identify areas of need to focus support

How we spend the Pupil Premium funding:

As a school we carefully consider various strategies for the best use of this funding and the individual needs of the children.

Some of the ways in which we spend the Pupil Premium grant on eligible pupils includes:

  • Funding teaching assistants in KS1 and KS2
  • Daily one-to-one reading
  • Additional teacher to work with smaller groups providing targeted support and feedback
  • Extra one-to-one, or small-group, support for children within or outside of the classroom
  • Investing in resources, including targeted interventions, that boost children’s learning
  • Providing opportunities for curriculum enrichment, including music lessons and school clubs
  • Contributing to school trips and residential visits
  • Providing daily milk
  • Funding the 'Drawing and Talking' counselling sessions, delivered by a trained teaching assistant
  • Funding additional nurture provision at break times and lunchtimes to support social skills and maintain good self-esteem

How the school measures the impact/effect

  • % of pupils achieving expected standards at the end of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
  • % of pupils making positive progress in reading, writing and mathematics throughout the school
  • %  of pupils participating in residential visits and educational day visits
  • Pupil Premium children are able to enhance their education by participating in extra curricular activities and music tuition
  • Children can talk about their feelings in a controlled way
  • The class teacher and the Head Teacher or the SENco monitor and analyse the progress of the pupils during the pupil progress meetings which take place termly. Records are kept on interventions for the children who have received support
  • Improved attendance
  • Class teachers complete pupil premium passports to monitor support and the impact
